Shocker of The Year: Georgia Crushes Hawaii

I am going out on a limb and predict that the biggest shock of 2008 will be Georgia beating Hawaii. I mean, how else do you explain Heisman Finalist Colt Brennan (Hawaii's QB) not being able to beat a football team that actually has talent. This game was never even close.

Even before The Rainbow Warriors got a play off...they were penalized twice. They were able to get three plays off before they had to punt. That about sowed up the victory for Georgia. Coming into last night's game Hawaii played 2 teams that made it to bowl games this year...and they both lost (Nevada and Boise State). They also have not played anyone that has a defense. So whoever thought that Hawaii had a shot at beating Georgia either had a relative on the team or is a half retarded chimpanzee.

However I do have to thank Hawaii. Thank them for once again making the BCS look stupid. The BCS felt that since Hawaii went undefeated against teams like Charleston Southern and New Mexico State that they deserved a BCS Bowl berth. Hopefully this will close the chapter on letting champions of sub-par conferences (and teams from those conferences who go undefeated) take spots in huge bowls from deserving teams in actual strong conferences.

Hawaii was over matched in every aspect of this game. Georgia's defense was stronger and faster. Matt Stafford (Georgia's non-Heisman Finalist QB) was/is better. The much hyped Brennan threw for 169 yards and 0 touchdowns...this is the guy who threw for over 500 against his WAC opponents. The Hawaii offense could only put up 10 points (the lone Hawaii TD coming from the backup quarterback)...they averaged 46 in the regular season and led the NCAA.

I don't want to be too hard on Colt Brennan. First off he has an awesome name. His name makes him sound like he should be a superhero or something. And secondly, I have no room to criticize QB's when I am an under preforming backyard quarterback. However, he is overrated. He will probably get drafted into the NFL and might be a great quarterback, but last night showed that he is not one of the best QB's in college football. Maybe if he had an offensive line that spent more time protecting their QB and less time dancing in grass skirts, he might have impressed me.

Congratulations to Georgia for being the 2008 Sugar Bowl Champions...next year I will probably be congratulating you for being the 2009 BCS National Champions with studs like Knowshon Moreno (who if a freshman) and Matthew Stafford (who is a sophomore) coming back.

Also, just want to give out a sarcastic thanks to Florida and Arkansas for loosing and ruining the perfect SEC record that Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi State and Auburn worked so hard for.
