The Pope Has Spoken

Pope Benedict the XVI (AKA Eggs) has ventured into the debate on global warming. And to say the least, Chicken Little (Al Gore) is not too happy. While The Pope says that there might be some truth to the claim of human induced global warming...the mass hysteria is not necessary.

He feels that any solution to the "problem" must be based on:
"firm evidence and not on dubious ideology."
Ohhhhh snap. The Holy Father will not be inviting Al to The Vatican to screen An Inconvenient Truth anytime soon. He goes on to say:
"that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement."

However I feel that my favorite quote from Pope Benedict was:
"the world needed to care for the environment but not to the point where the welfare of animals and plants was given a greater priority than that of mankind."
This message will be delivered January 1 at World Peace Day but he felt it necessary to leak a copy while world leaders are meeting in Bali discussing global warming.

I feel that it is about time that a world leader says this. The Czech president has been saying this for a while, but he is not the leader of a billion people. The Pope is one of the few people in the world that when he says something...it actually means something. This might actually start us down a path of more civilized discussion on the topic. Hopefully, gone are the days when non-global warming nuts are associated to Holocaust deniers.

The Pope 1...Al Gore 0.
