Link of the Day - Is This Racist?

This is a pretty funny web-site I ran across today, but I don't know if it is racist or not. I don't think it is, but I guess some people could take it the wrong way. The web-site Stuff White People Like makes posts on things that white people like, and then gives a nice description on why white people like it so much. Some of the things that white people like are; Toyota Prius, Recycling, Co-Ed Sports, Sushi, and the list goes on and on. Enjoy the reading!

Game Break - Tecmo Bowl is Back

If you grew up in the 80's and early 90's and you owned a Nintendo, more then likely you owned one of the versions of Tecmo Bowl or Tecmo Super Bowl. Personally, my favorite was the original where you could line up with the Raiders and dominate with Bo Jackson. I also enjoyed lining up with the 49ers, dropping back a good 60 yards with Montanna and throwing a touchdown pass to Rice in the end zone.

Now you can re-live your childhood days with Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl. Let me know if you guys are interested in any other games. Unfortunately, I couldn't find Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Test Your Memory

The people over at the Brain Fitness Channel have developed a test to see how well you are able to use your short term memory. They show you 15 words in 15 seconds. Your job is to look at the words, and once the list is completed you need to write down all the words you remember.

The average 20 year old will remember 8 of the 15 words, and the average 80 year old will remember 4. Give it a try. I scored a respectable 10 out of 15.

Flickrvision

Flickr is a web-site much like youtube but for photographs. Anyone from around the world can go to Flickr and upload pictures for the world to see. It is a pretty interesting web-site, and quite useful when you are looking for a new desktop picture or just want to look at pretty pictures.

This new web-site, which I found threw Pop Candy, shows all of the pictures that are being uploaded on Flickr and where they are being uploaded from. Pretty addicting web-site to sit and watch.

Rickwood Field

Rickwood Field is America's oldest ballpark and is located in downtown Birminham, Al. It has seen some great baseball players come through and play on it's field. Namely Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Drew Rodgers.

Playing baseball while I lived in Birmingham meant that I got to play a number of games at Rickwood and it was always fun to show up at the ballpark and think about some of the greats that have also played there.

ESPN reporter Jim Caple recently wrote a story about Rickwood and its long history.

Scientology (The Celebrity's Religion)

Scientology, what a religion. Founded by science fiction writer, Ron L. Hubbard it is the religion for the stars. I think Southpark did a pretty good job of shedding light on the Scientologist beliefs and Xenu.

Below is a video of 48 hours mystery which tells the story of Elli Perkins. Elli was a Scientologist who had a son that showed signs of strange and disturbing behavior. We all know that Scientologist do not believe in solving mental disorders with medication, but instead using their own methods of treatment.

Elli's son suffered from schizophrenia and started to believe his mom was poisoning him. After a failed suicide attempt he went on to kill his mother. It is a sad story and one that you would think could have been avoided if the son was given proper treatment.

Below is the video of her story which appeared on 48hours Mystery. It is kind of long, so you may want to watch when you are bored in your hotel room, or something.

Not Very Flattering.

I am not real sure the story behind this picture, but I do know that it is of a tattoo that turned out pretty bad for the recipient. I am guessing that the lady in the picture has died, since the tattoo reads "In Loving Memory," but it seems that the tattoo artist decided to draw the person as a zombie, not as the picture depicted.

I really hope this is what the guy wanted or that this is a fake picture, but I don't think it is. Just be warned that if you are going to get a tattoo of somebody's face, make sure the artist is a skilled one. Take a look at this bad tattoo.

For All The Brewer Fans Out There

I found this link via Deadspin today. As you may or may not know the Milwaukee Brewers are in first place in the NL Central. That is not saying much, but it is still respectable. Especially since no one gave them a chance to win anything at the beginning of the season.

The Brewer fans can't help but be impressed and are trying to show their support in different ways. Some make signs to bring to the stadium, some are going to more games to cheer on the team, and some are pledging to pee their pants if they win the NL Central. You to can show your support and go here to sign the pledge yourself. All you have to do is answer simple questions like your name, age, and the last time you peed your pants, you know important questions. Judging by their list at least 420 people will be relieving themselves if the Brewers make it to the playoffs.

Mythbusters Solutions

I like the show Mythbusters, I think it comes on Discovery Channel. However, whenever I sit down and watch the show it seems like they continually show the same two or three shows. Another thing they do is they jump around throughout the show and never show the solution till the very end, which obviously makes you watch the whole show.

That is why I was happy when I found Mythbuster Results.com. It will show you all of the myths the two hosts tried out and what the resulsts were.

Peter Does Not Lie!

Peter Answers is a fun web-site to help you mess around with your friends. Especially if your friends are really gullible. This site was brought to my attention by frequent Dink & Flika reader Courtney.

With Peter Answers you type in a question and it will guess the correct answer to that question. For example you can type in, "What color shirt am I wearing?" When you hit enter it will guess the correct answer. However, if you do not know the secret, or if you do not believe in Peter's power it will not give you the correct answer.

Because it is not fun not knowing the trick, you can go here for the solution. Now you can fool all your friends.

Dink & Flika - Reaches 100

It is time to celebrate here at Dink & Flika because this is officially the 100th post in our young blog's life. If you don't believe us you can go back and count all the hilarious entries or you can look to your right and see that this is the 100th post.

Regardless we figured we could not let this past without some celebration. That is why you can go here and celebrate with us. You can put on your own firework show over New York. What better way to celebrate, it is childish, yet somewhat addicting.

Who Needs the Planet Earth Documentary?

Planet Earth is a documentary that was first shown on the BBC. It was so popular, and so well done that they decided to air it over here in the U.S. It is an eleven part series and it is worth watching if you get the Discovery Channel.

If you can't watch Planet Earth the next best thing is to watch an African water hole 24/7. This link comes to us from frequent Dink & Flika reader, Jon. The fine folks at Africam decided to set up a camera pointed at an African water hole. During the night it stays pretty calm and you are not likely to see much. However, if you are able to view this during the daytime things stay pretty active. Enjoy.

Are You Smarter then a Second Grader?

We need to give props to Daddo for finding this test and making everyone who takes it feel stupid. It is "supposedly" a test they give to Japanese students when they are in the second grade, I don't buy that for a second. In the game you have six frogs, three on one side and three on the other, with a rock seperating the two groups. The goal is to get the frogs from one side over to the other side. You can jump over one frog at a time.

Here is the Link to test your IQ. Note: when you click on the link it is going to pop up a window asking you if you want to open an Excel file. The test is on an excel spreadsheet, I don't know why. If you are hesitant in opening up a file from a source you are not familar with then I would suggest not doing so. Just rest assured you probably wouldn't have passed the test anyway.

This is a pretty cool optical illusion I found the other day. Basically look at the cross in the middle and you will start to see a green dot, and then if you look at it longer the dots will dissapear. Enjoy.

Real Men of Genius

If you are anything like my wife you like Bud Light's Real Men of Genius commercials. I am not sure what her favorite one is but I am sure it involves flatulence (she is a sucker for those kind of jokes.)

I was reading Bill Simmons Sports Guy blog today and he has a section where he links to a bunch of web-sites and what not. One of his links was to this site which has 66 of the Real Men of Genius ads. I am not sure if it has every one but it comes close, and it is sure to have your favorite one.

Could This Be the Worst Product Name Ever?

This is a funny video I found via The Consumerist and it just goes to show that the name you choose for a product could be a very important decision. I think this video was made in the early 80's right before the disease, AIDS, got world-wide attention. If you are looking to shed a few pounds and you have tried all the diets out there why not give Ayds a chance.

Good News, The Son of the Deposed King of Nigeria Wants to Give Me Money!!!

It seems like a lot of the news shows are doing stories on Internet scams. Even Dateline took a break from their popular "To Catch a Predator" theme and developed a couple of shows appropriately titled to, "To Catch a ID Thief."

Though the different shows do a pretty good job of reporting the stories and giving tips on how to avoid being scammed, they don't do a very good job of showing us how to humiliate these people. That is why this web-site is such a good site to visit when you are looking for some time to kill.

419 Eater is a web-site devoted to baiting these scammers into thinking they are gullible Americans that are ripe for the picking. They then get into e-mail conversations and try to make the Nigerian scammers do ridiculous things. A popular thing to do is make the people grab random things and take pictures of themselves. The picture above is sent in from a Nigerian who thinks he is talking to the Pastor from a church called The Fish and Bread Church. In order for the Pastor to give them money, he had to show the parish a picture of the people they were going to help.

You can spend a lot of time looking at all the stories. It even shows you how to help out if you want to bait some of these scammers. Enjoy the link.

New Office Tonight

Tonight we have a brand new Office, and what could be better then a new Office? How about a new Office with Andy returning from Anger Management.

I was also surfing the web-site Pop Candy, which is a pretty fun web-site to visit, and she had two links to Office topics. First off, remember last weeks episode where Michael used Wikipedia to find out how to negotiate, well the Wiki entry is here. Though I couldn't find the tactic of whispering, I did find the tactic of not speaking first. Of course you may need to tell the person you are negotiating with that you are, in fact, not speaking first.

The second link that was found was the ability to now own your very own official Dunder Mifflin letterhead. I think Whitney (the author of Pop Candy) put it best when she said, "Now you can send your own faxes from the future."

Put Me Down for a Four!

The man pictured to your left is none other then Auburn Cornerback David Irons. He is done playing for the football powerhouse Auburn University and is trying to impress NFL GMs and head coaches at the NFL Combine. Part of the process is taking the Wonderlic Test and according to Wikipedia,

The Wonderlic is a twelve-minute, fifty-question exam to assess aptitude for learning a job and adapting to solve problems for employees in a wide range of occupations.

Each year it seems that one or two players gain notoriety by performing so badly the media can't help but talk about it. This year that honor goes to David Irons who scored an impressive 4 on the test. The lowest score ever was a 3, so David at least is in the Top 95%. It looks like David will not be adapting very well any time soon.
